Muon g ? 2: A review

چکیده
The muon magnetic anomaly, a?=(g??2)/2, plays a special role in the history of Standard Model (SM). Precise calculations and measurements this fundamental quantity provide stringent test SM window to physics beyond. In light first result published by Fermilab Muon g?2 experiment, article reviews current status experimental measurement theoretical prediction anomalous moment. It also provides an overview on resulting constraints associated beyond (BSM), future experiments progress that are closely connected g?2, such as could complementary information about BSM sector.

Muon g − 2 : a mini review
The current status of the experimental measurements and theoretical predictions of the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon aμ is briefly reviewed. The emphasis is put on the evaluation of the hadronic contribution to aμ as it has the largest uncertainty among all Standard Model contributions. The precision of the hadronic contribution is driven by the input e+e− data predominantly from the π+...
متن کاملMuon ( g − 2 )
For a spin1 2 particle, ~ S = ~2~σ, and gs is called the Lande g-factor. From classical calculations that treat the charged particle as a rotating piece of current, gs = 1. Surprisingly, the Dirac equation in relativistic quantum mechanics predicts that gs = 2, a result which agreed with the crude experiments of the time. In the 1940’s, a new understanding of renormalization in the developing q...
متن کاملMuon g-2 and Implications for Supersymmetry
A brief review is given of the implications of the recent Brookhaven result on the muon anomaly ( aμ) for supersymmetry. We focus mainly on the implications of the recent results for the minimal supergravity unified model. We show that the observed difference implies the existence of sparticles most of which should become observable at the Large Hadron Collider. Further, as foreseen in works pr...
متن کاملThe Next-generation Muon (g−2) Experiment
The muon (g − 2) experiment at the Brookhaven AGS achieved a relative precision on the muon anomalous magnetic moment, a μ , of ±0.54 ppm. The anomaly is sensitive to a wide range of physics beyond the standard model such as supersymmetry, and thus can help constrain the interpretation of any " new physics " found at the Large Hadron Collider. It is desirable to improve the precision of the exp...
متن کاملTriangle Anomaly and the Muon G − 2 *
The subject of this paper is a class of two-loop electroweak contributions to the muon g−2 containing a fermion triangle along with a virtual photon and Z boson, as shown in Fig. 1. In the standard model all charged fermions contribute to the triangle loop. Individual contributions of fermions lighter than the Z boson are enhanced by large logarithms ln(MZ/m), where m denotes the mass of the fe...
